ENTRY # 18: Chad & Tara - Aug 11, 2012

I met my fiance Chad 15 years ago, and I remembering approaching him and telling him he was handsome at the club. The club was out of bounds in Muskegon, Michigan. A couple days later my best friend's brother called me and asked me if he could give my number to his buddy Chad. He explained Chad saw me at the bar and I wanted to ask me out. He than called me and we went out on a date needless to say he was a wonderful guy. In our beginning years, it was tough. We were not sure we were going to make it due to our young age. We had our first child together and it caused some trials and struggles. Many of our friends and family did not think we were going to make it, but we have and it's 15 years later with two children together and I am looking forward to marrying my best friend. I hope that his mother and my father will be blessing us on our wedding day because they didn't get to live to see the day we married, and that is our love story!

ENTRY # 17: Ken & Carrie - September 10, 2011

Ken and I went to school together. We have dated for about 15 years and have two daughters’ together ages 12 & 7. Prior to the engagement, we would talk about marriage often. We would especially agree that we should tie the knot soon because not only do we want to celebrate our marriage but we also want to do it before the children graduate. And now this is a reality, our wedding is being planned for 9-10-11, (a date Ken will not forget).
Ken & I are best friends, and I can personally say I couldn’t ask for a better one. We understand each other, trust one another, and well we just fit perfectly together. Having all of this, among many other things, makes me confident that our marriage will be one that is very strong and everlasting. Ken proposed to me on Christmas Day in 2009 and left me in shock. I expected it someday but not then for sure especially since we agreed to not buying for each other that year and me feeling bad for him since my birthday is 3 days before Christmas, and I do get spoiled then. He personally handed me my Christmas stocking while the girls were watching and as I reached in, I grabbed an empty toilet paper roll. Then, I reached in again to find a movie we had watched last night. As I shake my head and chuckle, I reach in the way bottom and there was a little box all wrapped up with a bow. I thought there may be some earrings or a necklace, but I opened it up to find a beautiful ring and visions of a wedding I have thought about many times over the years. It was perfect. Ken went back to bed (as I imagine he had not slept well anticipating Christmas morning), the children played with their new toys (and were very excited for the talk of realistic wedding), and I called everyone to share the exciting news. The popular reply to my news was “Congratulations, It’s about time.” So here we are getting married very soon. It’s hard to believe the time went by so quickly. We are looking forward to sharing this special day with many, many loved ones!

ENTRY #16: Dale & Amanda - September 24, 2011

It was almost Christmas and Dale cant stand keeping a secret. I was working and Dale had been watching Trinity while I was at work. At the time he lived with his parents and I lived with my dad in Ravenna. So I went to pick her up and before we left he said.."Can I give you your Christmas present early" Now I was pretty sure he had bought me a ring because he is really bad at keeping secrets so he was giving little hints for awhile now. So I really just wanted to wait until Christmas but he kept insisting. So I said come on Trinity lets go, She said, "Oh just let him give you your present, Dale just go get the rinnn..." then she felt awful. So in the moment of him asking me to marry him I had to comfort my 6 yr. old because she felt horrible. I insured her that she wasnt telling me anything I didnt already know. I tried to tell Dale not to tell her stuff becasue she is just as bad at keeping secrets as he is! But it was alright and in the end he said " will you be my wife" and I said "of course I will!"

Having that be said, you will notice that the date is 2011...This is an approximate time as well...Because of how fast things went and how "wrong" they went Dale has decided that now that we have been together for two years and established a relationship and family, he would like to do it all over! The purposal, the ring, the romance..all of it and with a date we are going to go from there! I personally think it is a GREAT idea!

So I was right Dale ordered my ring and it is beautiful! I LOVE it! The proposal was great...He said he wanted to take the kids to the park in our trailer park but he wanted to go to the one on the other side of us (which just happens to be where our relationship started). So we did and he asked if I thought when we were there last time that we would end up together still today...I said no..The he asked if I was 100% sure I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him now and I said yes and he said, "Well will you be my wife cause I am 100% sure I want to spend the rest of my life with you too"? And of course I said YES! So the date is set for September 24 2011...whoooohooo!

ENTRY #15: Kyle & Rachel - June 18, 2011

Our love story isn't the typical love story. Love at first sight didn't happen for us. Kyle and I went to the same high school, he was two years ahead of me. We were both in the Marching band, he played the Tuba, I was in the Color Guard. And being in the same activities, you would think that we talked. We probably said 10 words to each other our entire 2 years of being in school together.

The year after Kyle graduated, the summer between my Junior and Senior year of high school, I was hired at Craig's Cruisers in Silver Lake. Kyle had been working there for 4 years and because it was my first year I didn't talk much to the guys. After a while I realized that the guys that I worked with liked playing jokes and making fun of the girls. At this point Kyle along with the other guys found ways to poke fun at me, and I thought he was a total jerk. Towards the end of the summer, Kyle and I began talking a little here and there when we came across each other at work, but I still wasn't a huge fan of him. By the end of the summer I got a phone call from Kyle asking me out on a date, which I ignored because I didn't like him =)

Fall of my Senior year Kyle and I ran across each other at a get together where the sparks began to fly.

After this night we met at a bonfire after the Whitehall vs. Shelby football game. Kyle and I were together the entire night and by the end of the night, I was hooked. I saw a completely different side of him, I was like, "wow he isn't a jerk after all." He turned out to be the sweetest guy that I have ever met!

We got engaged 1 year later.

ENTRY #14: Amey & Brian - May 14, 2011

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin on Brian and I's relationship! Brian and I went to high school together and ended up being very good friends! I knew no matter what time of the day/night it was he would be the person there for me. Many times my friends would say "you should date Plumb" (Brians last name) and all I would come back with was no way would I want to ruin my friendship with him! We dated other people and I ended up getting pregnant and had a *PRINCESS* in 2006. Since the day MaKenzey has been born Brian has had a place for that girl in his heart. Brian and I drifted away from each other for about a year then met up again while I was hanging out with some friends and at that very moment we were inseparable. We didn't start dating for about 6 months after being together daily but then I realized the saying "You always marry your best friend is TRUE". From that moment not only did Brian but his family also welcomed MaKenzey and I into their life. Brian and I love to spend time with Kenzey, watch movies, hang out with friends and anything else to keep a smile on every ones face. On March 13, 2010 Brian and I got engaged and I honestly did not think I could of been anymore happier in my entire life. Since August we have been planning our May 14, 2011 wedding and every time I think about it I STILL get butterflies. We can not wait to spend the rest of our life together! Thank you for considering me =]

The next day Eric called and we talked on the phone for 2 hours and ever sense that day we have been together. ENTRY #12: Jamie & Brad - October 1, 2011

Brad & I met at a concert in Wisconsin in the summer of 2006. Since I was already planning to move from Mt. Pleasant, Michigan to a town nearby his hometown (a southwest suburb of Chicago), we kept in touch. Our first date consisted of a river walk, smoothies, and a paddle boat ride on a pond. We were enjoying our time together so much that we did not want our date to end. We then ventured to the Mall and took pictures together in a photo booth. They turned out great and I cherish them greatly! Since Brad & I enjoyed the same kinds of things, I took him up North to Michigan to show him the state that still love so much. We ended up buying a summer home near Silver Lake Sand Dunes and continue to enjoy all four seasons that Michigan has to offer. It's a nice time away from our busy lives as a school teacher and police officer. Then, this past October Brad and I went on one of our "try-to-do-often" date nights. He took me to Navy Pier where he had dinner scheduled at a fine steak and seafood house. As we were walking around looking at the vendors and attractions on Navy Pier, Brad spotted a photo booth. We he asked if I wanted to take pictures, unsuspecting me, I agreed. The moment he asked I shrieked with excitement and now we have the pictures to show it!!!  Our wedding and reception is going to be held close to our vacation home, near Lake Michigan and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes, where we enjoy ourselves the most and often invite family and friends to do the same!

ENTRY #11: Pablo & Tatiana - March 2012

My fiance Pablo and I met in the 9th grade of high school. Even though we were attracted to each other, we remained friends until after high school. One day in Feb of 2006, he called me to hang out after not seeing him for a little over a year. We hung out, we flirted and it was obvious that we liked each other. So we started seeing each other more often, and pretty soon we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Greg and I met each other through Myspace almost 2 years ago now, We started out as just friends talking just about every night like we were in high school still staying up till 3 in the morning texting or talking on the phone. After about 3 or 4 months we started dating, and started to fall in love. Then last year in October I found out I was pregnant 2 days after my 23rd birthday. At that point things progressed faster then what they usually would have but with a love so strong and pure, I had never trusted anyone as much as I trusted him. I ended up having Pre-eclampsia and got induced 3 weeks early due to high blood pressure. After going through 20 hours of labor and my organs shutting down, I started pushing then I had to go for an emergency c-section. Our beautiful daughter born June 3rd, she was healthy & 7lbs 5oz, 20 inches long. She had some problems with her heartbeat slowing when she was in a deep sleep, we had to take her home on a heart monitor for the first 2 months of her life. We then got engaged July 14th 2010. We were supposed to get married this year on August 27th but we had to postpone the wedding to next year because we just couldn't afford everything this year. We both can no wait to be married and spend the rest of our lives together as a family.

ENTRY #8: Theodore & Jennifer - August 27, 2011

We met many years ago through a mutual friend. Too bad that we were both in serious relationships at the time. After about 3-4 years we were both single at the same time. Jenn was at our buddies house getting ready to go out with her brothers. I was there just hanging out. She left and later on that evening so did I. I returned back because I had been kicked out of my place to live. Our friend Jess happened to be online chatting with Jenn at some 2 am. Jess asked Jenn if she would come over and hang out. Jenn lived across town so she said she would if she had a ride. Jess had asked me to go get her and I agreed. After that we were inseperable. We started dating in April of 2007 and had decided to get a place together in October 2007. She was great with my girls and we just clicked. I asked her to marry me on Christmas of 2007. All she asked was that we wait until she graduated to get married. She wanted her last name on her diploma. I agreed. She graduates on June 10, 2011.
We are truly best friends. We can hang out and just watch movies, or go fishing, or play a round of golf. We just enjoy each others company. People may think we hate each other. I tell her I hate her and she tells me that she hates me. We banter back and forth for hours, but at the end of the day I do not know what I would do without her. She is my other half and she always tells everyone that I am hers. We are best friends and can talk to each other about everything. Whether its her yelling at me about a class she's taking or me complaining about shoveling the snow, we always listen to each other. She is always supportive of whatever I want to do...even if its the stupidest idea ever. She will back me up 100 % . She stands up for me and my daughter until she is blue in the face...even if she knows deep down that we are wrong. There is never any doubt that she loves us, and we love her. We truly love each other and no matter what may happen, we will always be there for each other.

ENTRY #7: Jason & Cystal - July 21, 2012

Jason and I went to middle school and high school together, we had friends from the same groups but we really never clicked or hung out. A couple years after high school I started hanging out with some of his friends, Josh. Jason and Josh lived together so I started hanging out with Jason also. We really were just friends, not interested in each other. We just hung out a lot, went to movies and just enjoyed each other's company. Well one night he asked me to go to a party with him, it was a work buddy's birthday. Everyone thought were were dating. Then the next day we went to the movies...that was the first night he tried to hold my hand and kissed me goodnight, so we did start dating. I didn't really take our relationship serious at first because I've dated many, many, lets say frogs. But after a while Jason turned into my prince charming. We became very serious, I moved in with him and we've been living with each other for over a year now. We have been through a lot and I've come to love him and his daughter very much. They are my world and my family.

Last weekend, we went on a cruise with his parents and sister to the Caribbean. The day we went to Jamaica he took me to a private beach and wrote in the sand "Cystal will you Marry me?" with a smiley face under it. He got down on one knee and opened this box with the most beautiful engagement ring in it. So Now I'm engaged to my prince charming and I can NOT wait until we get married! We are thinking about July 21st 2012. We haven't settled on a location yet. However, thinking a backyard wedding or maybe a beach setting.

Zach and I went to the same school for 8 years, had a couple classes together and graduated together, but never knew each other. Our paths crossed 2 years ago when we ended up hanging out with the same group of people for a short time. We clicked right away, I cant remember going a day without him since the first time we hung out. It took him a couple weeks before he finally asked me to be his, Feb 16 2009 to be exact! But hes always said, "ive loved you since I layed eyes on you valentines day". He asked me to marry him on Thanksgiving 2010, and something he'll never let me forget is that instead of saying "Yes!" I said "Thank You". What can I say, I was thankful that he finally asked!! haha.
When I think of my future hes in every picture. He's the reason why I believe in happy endings and solemates.
Best Friends come and go, but i get to know for the rest of my life my best friend will be right beside me.

ENTRY #5: Kristen & Brian - September 17, 2011

We met about 10 years ago in high school. He was a year older than me
and we didn't even know each other existed until we were introduced by
a mutual friend. We started as friends, but both of us were too shy to
admit we liked each other as more than friends! Brian (my fiance)
played football and so I went to every game to watch. In the beginning
of the season (September 19th, 2003 to be exact!) the football team won
their game and the crowd went down to celebrate and meet up with their
players. I went over to Brian and gave him a hug and then I noticed
all of our friends (and even his family) had surrounded us, and then
handed me a marker (i was very confused at this point!). He started to
pull of his jersey and football pads and under his uniform he had worn
a home-made shirt that said "Kristen will you go out with me" and on
the back it said "check yes or no". I of course checked YES and we
have been together ever since and we couldn't be happier! We are
getting married September 17th which is 2 days before our 8 year
"anniversary".

ENTRY #3: Casey & Brittany - September 22, 2012

Casey and I met through friends in November of 2006. I thought he was cute and nice and accepted when he asked me out on a date. I had just gotten out of a relationship not too long before, so I wasn't expecting anything besides friendship. For our first date he brought me to dinner and to see a new movie starring Will Farrel, but in the middle we both decided the movie wasn't very good and left the theater. I was shocked when he opened doors and paid for everything. I wasn't used to being treated like such a lady, but I took it all in. Once we left the movie theater, we saw a car in a ditch and Casey immediately pulled over. "I'm going to see if they are okay." He said as he pulled off the road and parked his truck. I waited until he came back to tell me, "This women is stuck. I'm going to pull her out." He went around his truck and attached a rope to the other car and I waited as he pulled her out of the ditch. I was very impressed and thought many other men wouldn't had stopped to help someone they didn't know, especially when he was on his first date. After several more dates he finally asked me to be his. Our relationship wasn't normal and many others thought it to be unacceptable. He is five years older than I am and at the time we met I was only fourteen. My parents were understanding and from the moment they met Casey they were as hooked as I was. Our dates consisted of movies, dinners, and him teaching me how to fish or hunt. Once he figured out I couldn't sit still or stay quiet enough he never asked me to go hunting again. Or maybe he realized I wasn't a hunter when I asked, "When are the deer coming?" after an hour of waiting in the woods. Even though we have different likes, we always seem to make it work and make times together interesting. After almost four years together, Casey proposed on my eighteenth birthday. Being the emotional woman I am, I cried like a baby and said, "YES!" Our plans are to have the wedding small and intimate in the fall of 2012.

ENTRY #2: Chris & Amanda - October 12, 2012

My husband and I originally met through my sister and his best friend when the started dating, at the time I was 13 and he was 16. I had the biggest crush on him and he liked me as well but thought I was too young for him. Over the years we stayed in touch off and on because my sister and his friend wound up getting married. When I was about 17 we lost contact completely and both went on to relationships with other people. We both had children from previous relationships when we finally ran into each other again. I was 3 months pregnant with another man's child and I was living with friends. I had been watching "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" and I was thoroughly scared when my best friend called and asked if I wanted to go out for some coffee. We were sitting in a booth near the doorway when Chris walked in and it was like no time had passed at all. We were completely inseparable from that night on. He was there through out my entire pregnancy. He even cut the cord when my daughter was born. After about a year and a half of dating he asked me to marry him. Another year later we had a courthouse wedding with just a few people. We now have a son together and have been through a lot over the past 5 years. We are planning on renewing our vows on our 5th wedding anniversary so that all of the people who were not there for our wedding can celebrate with us. I am 85% Irish and very proud of my heritage so were are planning a traditional hand-fasting ceremony and I plan on making my own dress. We have absolutely no photos from our court house wedding so I really want a photographer who can help us memorialize our second special day.

VOTING BEGINS ON VALENTINE'S DAY

ENTRY #1: Aaron & Laceine - July 21, 2012

Aaron and I met during the summer of 2002 while working at McDonald’s.  I had been working there for a while and had to take some time off work as I was going on a month long mission trip to Australia.  While I was overseas Aaron had started working there.  Upon my return we were scheduled together frequently and we became friends.  After a few months my parents asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday, to which I responded that I would like to go out on the boat as a family and I would like to invite a friend to join us.  It was then that I worked up the courage to ask Aaron if he would like to join my family and myself for a day on the lake.

Aaron and I were pretty much inseparable after that.  If he wasn’t in school and I wasn’t at work we could usually be found together; whether I was over at his house spending time with his family, or we were out with his friends bowling, watching movies or at the football games or whether he was out with my family on the boat or at our house spending time and helping us build our home.

Aaron was always someone that I could count on and someone that my family loved.  After 3 ½ great years together I hit a rebellious stage and I felt the need to get away from the small town I grew up in and explore what was available.  I ended up abruptly walking away from my relationship with Aaron and began making life changes.  Over that next year I moved downstate where I could start living “big city dreams”.  No sooner than a week after I left home tragedy rocked my family with the unexpected death of my mother.  I had not spoken to Aaron in nearly a year at that time, however I felt that I needed to talk to him as my family loved him and in their eyes he was still very much a part of the family.  He immediately arrived at my parent’s home to comfort and give his support which I thought was a very stand up thing to do given the fact I had walked out on him a year prior.  He stood by my family’s side that week and attended my mother’s memorial service.  A few months after that started out on his lifelong dream and joined the Army to fly helicopters and he left for boot camp.  Upon completion of boot camp he attended my families Christmas party and after that we were at the point that we could be friends and talk to each other again.

I spoke to Aaron occasionally over the next few years through e-mail about his new life in the Army and how much he seemed to be enjoying it.  We also spoke about how my family’s life had been turned upside down in the recent years with the death of my mother and the fact that my father too had been taken from us.  Aaron was very comforting whenever I needed to talk to him about my family.

Aaron then left for a year-long tour in Afghanistan.  The time difference and our daily schedules did not allow us to speak much, however we were able to connect every once in a while.  One evening we were online talking and I asked him who all he was able to keep in contact with.  When he replied no one really it broke my heart.  Here he was in a war zone and he didn’t have anyone to talk to on a normal basis other than weekly phone calls to his family.  It was at that point that I made an attempt to be online every night possible so he would be able to talk to someone before he left for work.

Feelings immediately started rushing back about all of the great times that we had over the 3 ½ years that we were together.  After talking on a daily basis for a little more than a month we decided we were going to give it a try again.  Not too long after that Aaron was able to take a two week leave from Afghanistan to come home and visit his family.  I was able to spend two weekends with him and his family and they welcomed me back with open arms, as if nothing had ever happened.  The comments we received from family members and friends about us being back together were so inspiring to me.  After two weeks of being home Aaron had to leave to go back to Afghanistan for another three months.

Those next three months seemed to drag by.  I just wanted to be with him, I wanted to be able to hug him and be able to hear his voice without a constant delay from the telephone.  The time ended up pasting and Aaron was able to return stateside by Thanksgiving.  He was not allowed to leave as they had a lot of paperwork to do from just returning home and I wasn’t going to let him spend Thanksgiving alone so I drove down to Fort Campbell.  I was finally able to spend time with him and see what his “Army life” was all about, and I loved it.  We decided that I was going to move down to Fort Campbell to be with him so just after Christmas I packed up everything and away I went.

We have been living together down here at Fort Campbell for just over a year now and I am so glad that I was able to experience this part of his life with him.  Aaron proposed to me on December 10, 2010 and on January 11, 2011 we eloped.  Aaron will be leaving for a year-long deployment in Afghanistan within the next few weeks.  I have been trying to prepare myself for what a year alone without him is going to be like, and I just can’t imagine it.  Now that I have him back, I don’t want to let him go.  He is everything to me.  All I can do is pray that he is safe and that the time goes by fast.  I look forward to the day that he returns from Afghanistan so we can be together again.

Upon Aaron’s return we will be having a vow renewal and re-commitment ceremony for our friends and family on July 21, 2012.

About the Wedding Collection Giveaway! Please read!

I'm going to start posting entries to the Wedding Collection Giveaway Contest 2011. Voting begins on Valentine's Day. Any votes before then will be removed and not counted. Please read all of the rules and regulations below:

 WEDDING COLLECTION
GIVEAWAY 2011

Here is what is included:

  • Full day coverage up to 10 hours
  • DVD of high resolution images with print release
  • Password protected online gallery of images
  • A professionally framed 16x20 wall portrait

Who can enter? Anyone and everyone.

What if we’re already booked with Sentimental Moments? Couples who are already booked for the 2011 wedding season may choose to participate or not. If a booked couple enters and wins, they will have a choice between the collection above and the one they originally booked for.  The deposit that they paid will be credited back as a product credit which can be used to purchase albums, prints, and wall portraits.
Booked couples always take priority over non booked couples. Their dates are unavailable. So if a non booked couple sends an entry in for a date already booked, that couple will be notified and entry will be canceled unless they have another date in mind.  Here’s the biggest kicker:

All NEW couples who enter with an available date will receive $100 off any wedding package!

What do we have to do to enter? Send us an email here. Here is what we need in that email:
  • Your names
  • Telephone number OR Email address
  • Wedding Date or possible dates
  • Wedding location or perspective location
After that information here’s where it gets fun.  We’d like you to tell us your love story.  How you met, how long you dated, funny stories about your dating, anything at all.  We want to know about you and what makes your love special.  Feel free to attach photos to your email.  It’s nice to put faces to the names.

After we receive your email, we will post your love story on our blog and send you a link to the blog post. Your job then is to get all your friends, family, coworkers, etc. to leave a comment on your love story.  The couple with the most comments wins!

When is the deadline? All entries must be submitted before Valentine's Day 2011. On Valentine's Day, your love story will be posted on our blog awaiting comments. Comments will continue to be counted until 11:59pm February 28, 2011.  Any comments entered after that will not be counted. Only one comment per person per story, however, you can comment on as many stories as you wish.

What about destination weddings? This contest is open to everyone!  We really do mean everyone.  A travel fee will be charged for airfare, room, and rental car.

When will the winner be announced? The winner will be announced on March 1, 2011.

Good luck everyone!
